Vintage Rose (OOTD)

Photo Mar 16, 12 43 46 PM

AYO hello everyone! Long time no see!

Last week was my Spring Break, and I decided it was time to get back into the swing of things. As much as I adore my roommates and best friends here at school, we definitely encourage lazy behavior when we’re together (which is 97% of the time). Therefore, I completely fell out of the routine that saved me last spring when I was feeling down. I stopped trying with my appearance and, with that, I stopped maintaining this blog. This definitely affected my self-confidence significantly. Over my break, I realized that I needed to work on building myself up again. The journey to complete self-love and acceptance is never-ending, and I can’t slack or my mental health suffers.

So here’s to living a happier and healthier life.

So how about this ADORABLE dress, eh? I love it’s faded/worn look, and it’s in my trusty, go-to silhouette. It’s a super flattering cut and pattern, and I feel HELLA cute in it. I threw on a light, cream cardigan to complete the look and add some warmth. Also it looks pretty schnazzy wrapped around my waist. I paired these pieces with my trusty black leggings and black combat boots, folded down for extra flair.

Maroon Meow (OOTD)

picture898

Hey y’all! It’s definitely feeling like fall outside, and I am LOVING IT. After the uber hot and gross weather we had those first few weeks of the semester, I was dying to get myself into some cute sweaters/leggings/scarves/boots/lipsticks! (I’m really passionate about fall fashion.) Now that the weather has finally cooled down. I’m taking advantage. Of course it still warms up too much by midday, and I end up pushing up my sleeves in a huff, but I refuse to stop dressing so cute!

Today my friends and I decided to all wear maroon pants just for shits and giggles. Now, I really don’t like how my maroon pants fit, so I cheated and wore my new maroon leggings instead. #ohwell. (Note that the leggings look more red toned in person than they do in the pic. I really dont like plummy maroons.)

What I Wore:

Sweater: Forever 21+
Leggings: Forever 21+
Combat Boots: Payless
Lipstick: Rimmel in Bordeaux 124

picture905

This sweater is just so stinkin cute! When I saw this online last season I absolutely HAD to have it. I am a hardcore cat person, and this just spoke to me. Also it’s super long and cozy, and it’s also not too thick or thin of a material. Basically, this sweater is purrfection.

picture899

When I was planning this outfit in my head, I knew I had to pull out one of my favorite fall lipsticks from Rimmel. I only wish it were a matte finish instead of cream, but with a few rounds of blotting it stays put. For some reason, I find it really hard to find good deep red lipsticks. Berries and plums are super prevalent, but a dark brick red alludes me. It’s one of my goals to find the perfect fall red this season. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Well that’s it for this post. Thanks for reading! I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather!

P.S. More roommate love.

Break Free (OOTD)

picture885

Hey y’all! The fashion posts are officially back! I am so passionately in love with this dress that I had to make a post immediately.

So obviously, I’ve been pretty absent from this blog. However, no apologies or excuses. Life happened; that’s it.

The title of today’s blog is brought to you by my obsession with Break Free by Zedd/Ariana Grande. I’m not a big fan of Ariana, but mostly anything by Zedd really gets me boogieing out of my seat.

Update on my life? Being captain is hard work. Getting tan basically happened over night. The side-braid is unsurprisingly omnipresent. The textbook buying process was significantly more difficult than semesters past. Using blogspot for blogging is excruciating (doing it for a class). I’m feeling more confident and fabulous that I ever have, thanks to my beautiful friends. Choreographing a sassy swing dance is so much fun. I’m genuinely interested in all of my classes this semester, no matter how frustrating they may be. On the first day my professor for Dinosaurs legit squatted on a chair in the front of the class and pretended to lay an egg. College, man.

Anyway, on to this beauteous dress.

What I Wore:

Dress: Forever 21+
Oxfords: Gifted
Lips: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – India

picture888

This dress is just so. flippin. cute! The box pleats are incredibly flattering, and teal and gray are my favorite colors to wear! When I saw this dress online, I knew I absolutely had to have it. It fits like a damn glove. The best part easily is that the teal isn’t just big ol’ polka dots; they’re actually speech bubbles!

picture884

This is just the perfect dress for me, and I’m so happy about it’s existence in my closet (or more currently: on my body.) I got so many nice compliments today, and yeah… I’m feeling good about it. Did ya notice?

Also this lippie is bomb. I’m all about that deepened radiant orchid color for this fall. Highly recommend.

P.S. Here’s a super cute pic of me and my roommate, Heather. She’s gorgeous and just as fabulous as I. I love her!

Kendra’s Fashion Challenge!

kendra fashion challenge banner

Hey guys! Last week I was contacted by Kendra to participate in her fashion challenge! She’s going on a romantic getaway to Miami with her husband, and she wanted some fashion inspiration.

Here’s what she said it’s all about:

“My husband is taking me to Miami on a romantic getaway. It will be just the two of us on this special vacation. There are many things that I want to do, but what I need is outfits and accessories that will fit in perfectly with our stay in Miami. That is why I created Kendra’s Fashion Challenge. The outfits that I want to be wearing can be trendy and simply amazing. While in Miami, we will be bringing our digital camera in order to take numerous photos of our adventures. It is my desire to look back on those photos and see in me a timeless and chic style. We will be staying at the marvelous Biltmore Miami Coral Gables Estate. gogobot is where we learned about this historic hotel. This site has a large amount of real testimony reviews on hotels and many activities that guests can do. Not only that, but we learned about the venues that Miami has to offer. The Biltmore is a fascinating place with a wonderous history and classy look. When my husband and I arrive at the Biltmore Miami Coral Gables Estates, we will be staying at the suite that is known as the Everglades. I really like the open design. Not only that, but the lighting is tremendous. It has a dining room table, a baby grand piano, a desk, a kitchen and a private elevator. I was stunned to learn that Al Capone once stayed here. These accommodations are truly exciting. When it is time for a romantic dinner, the Biltmore Miami Coral Gable Estates has a fantastic restaurant we will be visiting, and that is the Palme d’or. This French restaurant has limited hours, but memorable food. I look and feel my best when I am wearing outfits that are ideal every occasion. It is awesome to have a cute outfit with matching accessories when the two of us do something together. I want to look stunning whether we are having a fancy dinner together or having a shopping adventure.  I am at my best when I am confident with the clothes I wear! ”

She gave me details on what she’ll be up to during her stay, and I came up with two easy breezy outfits: a day look and a night look.

Day Look:

day look

Dress: Forever 21+
Hat: Forever 21
Shoes: Modcloth
Necklace: Michael Kors
Midi Ring: Maria Black
Bag: Forever 21
Cuff: Nine West
Lipstick: MAC Sweet Experience

A plus size friendly option! I knew I wanted to do a bright and fun maxi dress for my day look. I actually don’t own any maxi dresses, because finding one that’s long enough for me is quite the challenge. I love the colors of this dress, and I decided to pair it with gold and rose gold accessories. I love how shades of gold work with peach shades for a light summery look.

Night Look:

night look

Dress: Topshop
Shoes: Topshop
Necklace: Overstock
Bangle: YOOX
Lipstick: Too Faced Melted Peony

I love lacy dresses for romantic nights out. Also, the navy blue looks so good against tanned skin, which I’m sure she’ll have plenty of in Miami! I went with simple but unique silver accessories to compliment the dress and my choice of a bold lip. I love these new Too Faced Melted lipsticks, and the coral-y pink shade pops against the deep blue.

So there it is! Two classic, flattering, and easy to wear pieces for a romantic getaway with a loved one!

Which is your favorite?

xoxo Gigi.

Blue Me Away (OOTD)

picture860

During the summer I cling to these kimono dresses. I have 6 different colors/prints, and I live in them as soon as the weather heats up. They’re super comfortable but still flattering! I was just lounging around at home on this day, so I didn’t show shoes, but I’ll wear basically anything with these. I’m not a huge flip flop person, so I’ll usually wear this with my converse or maybe a pair of casual oxfords. My white lace oxfords from Payless would look super cute with this!

This is one of my favorite dresses that I own just for the color alone. This shade of blue is so vibrant and looks so good with my dark hair. With a tan, this dress pops even more!

picture855

What I Wore:

Dress: Walmart
Makeup: See my last post!

picture857

Also, today is the one year anniversary of me signing up on WordPress!!! I didn’t actually start using the blog until a couple weeks later, so I’ll celebrate properly on the anniversary of my first post. I can’t believe I actually stuck with this thing for a whole year. (For the most part).

xoxo Gigi.

In the Archives (OOTD)

picture838

I was cleaning up  my blog folders and I found a set of outfit photos that I never got around to posting! This was one of my super comfy, but still cute, outfits that I wore towards the end of my semester. This skirt is actually a tube top dress that I fold under and put over a shirt often. I like it much better like this. Tube tops just don’t work with my top half… at all.

picture844

What I Wore:

Shirt: Target
Skirt: Target
Leggings: Forever 21+
Shoes: (probably) Payless

picture840

(yes those are socks!)

picture839

So yeah a quick and cute outfit, pockets included!

xoxo Gigi.

Simply Spring (OOTD)

picture831

Despite the snow last night (crazy!),  I wanted a touch of spring in my outfit today. I went with this fun, colorful top tied over my little black dress. It was still cold so I paired it with my trusty black leggings and combat boots. Simple, but still a little pop of spring with this drastically cooler weather.

picture833

What I Wore:

Shirt: Walmart
Dress: Forever 21+
Leggings: F21+
Boots: Payless

picture832

So yeah, not much else to say in this post. It seems lately as one thing dies down, another thing picks back up. Today I am finally getting some down time! Also I really am loving this weather. I love cooler spring days! (Although the snow can go away. I’ve had enough of that for the year.)

Hope you’ve had a nice week!
xoxo Gigi.

Flower Child (OOTD)

picture804

Another new dress! I got this beauty from Asos last week. It’s my first dress from there and I’m incredibly happy with it! I even got it for an amazing deal. I got it for more than half off! I feel so pretty and springy in this. Without the belt it doesn’t really have a defined waist, and it’s so fun to spin around in. The fabric is just so soft and flowy, and everything about its proportions is perfect. I can see this becoming one of my favorite dresses real fast.

What I Wore:

Dress: Asos Curve
Belt: Target
Leggings: Forever 21+
Combat Boots: Payless
Lipstick: ELF Matte Lipcolor in Natural + NYX Matte Lipstick in Hippie Chic

picture809

So yeah, there was nothing absolutely crazy about this outfit; it’s pretty straight forward. The dress is incredibly adorable and perfect for the warmer weather that is rolling in! But doesn’t that NYX lipstick have just the perfect name?

xoxo Gigi.

Blackout (OOTD)

picture790

Over spring break I kind of went dress-buying crazy. There were so many good deals, and now that I’m really sure in my personal style, online shopping is a breeze. I know what fits me well, and who sells it for the best price. I am in love with every single piece I purchased, and I can’t wait to show you all in upcoming OOTD’s!

I did notice that there is a lack of color in this outfit, but the print is loud enough. It is just incredibly flattering on my hourglass figure, though! And the neutrality gave me a chance to play up a more bright lip color. I’m really into bright purple and berry lips for this spring.

azedit1

What I Wore:

Dress, leggings, heart key necklace: Forever 21
Combat boots: Payless
Lips: Wet n Wild Megalast in Mauve Outta Here + Almay Liquid Lipbalm in Pink Pout

picture795

Yo, F21 should seriously hire me or something; I am always wearing something of theirs! I can’t get over how their skater dresses fit me so perfectly. The best part about this dress (and most of my F21 dresses) is that this will be long enough that I won’t be uncomfortable wearing it without leggings. The worst part about spring is getting accustomed to baring leg again (and battling chub rub!).

Monday was our first real taste of spring. Despite the wind, it was absolutely gorgeous outside! People are saying that it’s still cold, but high 50s/low 60s is my favorite weather. I don’t want it any warmer than this!

How are you celebrating the spring weather?
xoxo Gigi.

Stay Classic (OOTD)

picture773

On friday it was super rainy, and the temp was at a weird in-between state where I couldn’t decide which jacket I should wear. I was cold and uninspired, so I decided to go with a classic look that I’m sure you’ve seen on hundreds of teen girls (and never on me). It was comfortable and stylish at the same time, and the red lip added just a touch of glam.

This isn’t a stand out outfit by any means, but it was relatively cute and I felt good in it. That warrants a blog post.

picture777

What I Wore:

White Tee: Target
Denim Shirt: Old Navy
Black Jeggings: Zara
Boots: Forever 21+
Lipstick: NYX matte lipstick in Perfect Red

picture781

The lighting is obviously pretty crappy. The storm was really starting to roll in as I was taking these. However, somehow I got my hair and makeup to cooperate all day, despite the dreary conditions. Friday was a pretty good day overall, actually. (And I think my butt looked fantastic).

Here’s to more good days and less rainy ones (unless I can stay inside).
xoxo Gigi.
