Vintage Rose (OOTD)

AYO hello everyone! Long time no see!

Last week was my Spring Break, and I decided it was time to get back into the swing of things. As much as I adore my roommates and best friends here at school, we definitely encourage lazy behavior when we’re together (which is 97% of the time). Therefore, I completely fell out of the routine that saved me last spring when I was feeling down. I stopped trying with my appearance and, with that, I stopped maintaining this blog. This definitely affected my self-confidence significantly. Over my break, I realized that I needed to work on building myself up again. The journey to complete self-love and acceptance is never-ending, and I can’t slack or my mental health suffers.

So here’s to living a happier and healthier life.

So how about this ADORABLE dress, eh? I love it’s faded/worn look, and it’s in my trusty, go-to silhouette. It’s a super flattering cut and pattern, and I feel HELLA cute in it. I threw on a light, cream cardigan to complete the look and add some warmth. Also it looks pretty schnazzy wrapped around my waist. I paired these pieces with my trusty black leggings and black combat boots, folded down for extra flair.

Alrighty, that’s all for now. Hopefully you’ll be seeing more from me on this darn blog soon!

In the Archives (OOTD)

I was cleaning up  my blog folders and I found a set of outfit photos that I never got around to posting! This was one of my super comfy, but still cute, outfits that I wore towards the end of my semester. This skirt is actually a tube top dress that I fold under and put over a shirt often. I like it much better like this. Tube tops just don’t work with my top half… at all.

What I Wore:

Shirt: Target
Skirt: Target
Leggings: Forever 21+
Shoes: (probably) Payless

(yes those are socks!)

So yeah a quick and cute outfit, pockets included!

xoxo Gigi.

Stay Classic (OOTD)

On friday it was super rainy, and the temp was at a weird in-between state where I couldn’t decide which jacket I should wear. I was cold and uninspired, so I decided to go with a classic look that I’m sure you’ve seen on hundreds of teen girls (and never on me). It was comfortable and stylish at the same time, and the red lip added just a touch of glam.

This isn’t a stand out outfit by any means, but it was relatively cute and I felt good in it. That warrants a blog post.

What I Wore:

White Tee: Target
Denim Shirt: Old Navy
Black Jeggings: Zara
Boots: Forever 21+
Lipstick: NYX matte lipstick in Perfect Red

The lighting is obviously pretty crappy. The storm was really starting to roll in as I was taking these. However, somehow I got my hair and makeup to cooperate all day, despite the dreary conditions. Friday was a pretty good day overall, actually. (And I think my butt looked fantastic).

Here’s to more good days and less rainy ones (unless I can stay inside).

Spring Beauty Haul!

With tax refund season comes haul season! I was able to get my hands on a couple of makeup items that I’ve been lusting over at the drugstore for a while! Obviously it’s not all from Bath & Body Works. That’s just the bag I had handy to hold it all. And it’s a cute bag.

Covergirl Oil Control Pressed Powder in 525 Buff Beige
Maybelline MegaPlush Mascara in Blackest Black
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

The powder and mascara were just repurchases. The Baby Skin is something I’ve been wanting to try for a while! I’ve only used it once but so far I really like how it feels on my skin, how it makes my concealer and powder go on, and how it makes my pores look!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink
Physician’s Formula Natural Nude Shimmer Palette
Maybelline Master Hi-light Blush in Nude and Bronzer in Light Bronze

I love the Color Tattoos and I wanted this one to go with my Naked 3. Also I’ve been loving pinky/rose golds and this’ll help amp them up! I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about both the PF and Maybelline mosaic face things. They’re all in that gorgeous rosy bronze shade and I had to have them.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic
ELF Matte Lip Color in Natural
Milani Lipstick in Naturally Chic and Plumrose
Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Mauve Outta Here

Love me some lipsticks. I’m still on the lookout for the lighter coral color in the matte balms, but I grabbed this bright fuscia color in the mean time. It’s a little too bright for me, but I’m not giving up on it yet. I wanted to try a similar product from the ELF line so I picked up this nudey color. I also picked up my first Milani lipsticks! I got two deep rosy shades that I love. And my search for the Megalast lipstick in tea rose continues. This was the only lipstick left in the display, but I liked the shade still so I grabbed it.

Maybelline The Elixir in Blush Essence
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Rosy Lipped, Lilac Love, and Apple a Day

Everyone’s also been ranting or raving over the Elixir lip glosses. I picked one up, but the smell really turns me off of it. The shade is okay, but I can’t get past the lingering smell. The Almay glosses, however, smell delicious and are my favorite glosses from the drugstore thus far. I’m slowly working on completing my collection. The Lilac one really surprised me! It’s pretty pigmented and makes my lips a wearable shade of that Radiant Orchid color! And Apple a Day is so perfect for a low maintenance red lip. I’m in makeup love!

Sinful Colors – Baby Blues
Wet n Wild – Private Viewing

I needed more spring pastel nail polishes. Nuff said.

Garnier Fructis Texturizing Spray
Tresemme Dry Shampoo

Since cutting my hair, I want to experiment with some loose beachy waves and curls, so I picked this up. Also, I’m trying every drugstore shampoo until I find the one that’s best for me. This is my 4th brand so far. I haven’t really tried it yet.

Bath & Body Works fragrance mist in Amber Blush

It was on sale, and it smelled fantastic, so I bought it on an impulse.

WHOO this was a pretty big haul. But I got a lot of sales and stuff so I didn’t do too much damage. A girl can never have too much makeup!!! I also did a lot of fashion shopping this week, so once all my online purchases arrive I’ll do a Try-On Fashion Haul. So stay tuned!

Happy Spring!
xoxo Gigi.

How to Remix a Green Dress (St. Patty’s Day OOTD!)

I love this simple knit green dress, and it’s in the perfect shade for St. Patty’s Day! However, just wearing a plain green dress can be a little boring for us fashion lovers, so here’s a couple of ways you could spice it up! They’re all pretty simple, since I’m a minimalist when it comes to my personal style, so just keep in mind that you could do even more to jazz up your holiday outfit!

The green dress is from Target and the leggings are from Forever 21+. Although I didn’t include shoes, I would recommend black combat boots or maybe some cute black and white saddle shoes!

Simple Accessories

If you want the green dress to really be the stand out piece, then try complimenting it with a simple but unique accessory. This is an antique pocket watch that I found online for super cheap. I love the super long chain, and it adds a little bit of vintage glam to any outfit!

Dress it Down

This is how I chose to wear the dress a little while ago.  I like wearing loose, comfy button downs over my dresses to make them a bit more casual. This chambray shirt adds another color without competing with the vibrancy of the dress, and the rolled up sleeves give it a laid-back appearance. I really love this combo!

This is probably my favorite out of the three. I always love using my tops to remix dresses and add different aspects to my  outfits. I picked this royal blue to play off the deepness of the green. The two primary colors compliment each other perfectly. If you were feeling especially vibrant, you could keep the primary colorblocking look going by wearing red or yellow shoes!

These are just a couple of quick ways you can mix up your St.Patty’s day look. I’m pretty sure this dress can still be found in store at Target, so try to snatch it up if you can! It’s a perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

Which look is your favorite?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
xoxo Gigi.

Extra! Extra! (OOTD)

Yesterday I hit an all time high in views and visitors on this blog! I’m so proud of how far this little blog has come in such a small amount of time. (Also my follower count on tumblr is skyrocketing!) Today I got so many compliments, I could barely handle it all. Someone even called me perfect. This week has been pretty damn good, and it’s only Wednesday! And I have off the rest of the week off for the snowpocalypse. I’m floating on a proverbial snow cloud right now.

What I Wore:

Dress: Target
Scarf: Etsy
Leggings: Forever 21+
Boots: Payless
Lipstick: Wet n Wild Megalast in Just Peachy
Lipgloss: Loreal Wet Stain in Lilac Ever After
Elbow Patch: KU Valentine’s Day Blood Drive

The star of this outfit is undoubtedly this absolutely gorgeous scarf. (I’m such a writer, I just called a scarf with a bunch of words on it gorgeous.) I’ve been obsessed lately with these smaller silk infinity scarves. My head and neck area tend to get really hot in class, so these are the perfect accessory for me – I can indulge in the scarf trend without melting.

Pause: my RA just came in to have me sign something, and she complimented me on my scarf. This piece sure is a conversation starter!

Anyway, this dress, on the other hand, is another staple in my wardrobe. And I totally am aware that I posted basically the exact same outfit last week with a different dress and scarf combo, but I don’t care. This is my go-to formula that makes me feel confident, so I’m gonna stick with it.

Tonight I have a meeting (that I’ll tell you guys about at a later date), and then after I’m going home for the weekend. I have a pretty rough colorguard weekend coming up, so it’s nice to have a couple of days to relax and get caught up with work (mostly relaxing though).

Soon I’ll post an update. Even though I document a lot of current thoughts in my OOTD posts, I think this blog is getting a tad impersonal. I’m satisfied with the amount of activity, now I just need to personalize it a bit. Hope that’s okay with you guys?

Happy Long Weekend!
xoxo Gigi.

Lace and Bows (OOTD)

Today’s outfit is a shout out to my wonderful friend Gabby, who wears a lot of chiffon.

I decided that I liked that collared-shirt-under-a-dress look, so I dug through my closet to remake it today. This is one of the first dresses that I bought last year that really made me feel good all prettied up. (Thank you Forever 21+.) The little bow details are freaking adorable, and this pretty pink lace button down is one of my favorite items of clothing. Basically, this outfit was a match made in heaven.

Also, the femininity of this outfit is perfect for Valentine’s Day! Although wear whatever the hell you want on Valentine’s day. Mine’s gonna be spent in practice clothes so, you do you girl.

What I Wore:

Dress: Forever 21+
Shirt: Target
Leggings: Forever 21+ & Avon
(New!) Boots: Forever 21+

Obviously I’ve been kissing some F21+ ass lately. But hey, they make clothes in my size that I really like, so if they keep it up, I’ll keep buying.

This is my first pair of knee high boots! Finding wide calf boots in a size 12 is practically impossible. However, F21 was having a plus size boot sale so I decided to check it out. Lo and behold they had these boots left in only one size: 12. It was like the heavens shone down upon my computer screen. A couple days later these beauties were all mine. They fit pretty damn well for the price. I was afraid that they wouldn’t fit my calves, but they do perfectly. Now I just can’t wait for them to be broken in…

I’ve got another pink outfit coming up later this week (if I get a chance to wear it with the snowpacalypse that is going to hit my area) so stay tuned!

xoxo Gigi.
