Break Free (OOTD)

picture885

Hey y’all! The fashion posts are officially back! I am so passionately in love with this dress that I had to make a post immediately.

So obviously, I’ve been pretty absent from this blog. However, no apologies or excuses. Life happened; that’s it.

The title of today’s blog is brought to you by my obsession with Break Free by Zedd/Ariana Grande. I’m not a big fan of Ariana, but mostly anything by Zedd really gets me boogieing out of my seat.

Update on my life? Being captain is hard work. Getting tan basically happened over night. The side-braid is unsurprisingly omnipresent. The textbook buying process was significantly more difficult than semesters past. Using blogspot for blogging is excruciating (doing it for a class). I’m feeling more confident and fabulous that I ever have, thanks to my beautiful friends. Choreographing a sassy swing dance is so much fun. I’m genuinely interested in all of my classes this semester, no matter how frustrating they may be. On the first day my professor for Dinosaurs legit squatted on a chair in the front of the class and pretended to lay an egg. College, man.

Anyway, on to this beauteous dress.

What I Wore:

Dress: Forever 21+
Oxfords: Gifted
Lips: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain – India

picture888

This dress is just so. flippin. cute! The box pleats are incredibly flattering, and teal and gray are my favorite colors to wear! When I saw this dress online, I knew I absolutely had to have it. It fits like a damn glove. The best part easily is that the teal isn’t just big ol’ polka dots; they’re actually speech bubbles!

picture884

This is just the perfect dress for me, and I’m so happy about it’s existence in my closet (or more currently: on my body.) I got so many nice compliments today, and yeah… I’m feeling good about it. Did ya notice?

Also this lippie is bomb. I’m all about that deepened radiant orchid color for this fall. Highly recommend.

Copper Chic (FOTD)

photo (6)

Hey guys! For summer, I absolutely love a copper/bronze eye look. It really brings out my eye color, and just looks fantastic on my skin tone. I think copper and golden shadows are super flattering on almost everyone. This is an easy way I achieve this summery makeup look!

0531140844

Products Used:

Rimmel 9-in-1 BB Cream in Light
Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer For Eyes in Light
Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder in 315 Soft Honey
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer in St Lucia
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Nude Palette in Natural Nude
Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow in 325 Copper Fling
Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in 70 Copper Chic
Flower Eyeshadow Quad in Foxy Browns
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Sable
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Precious Gold
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara
Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Fruti

Procedure:

1. First I applied my face products. I like using lighter BB creams during the summer months (or anytime really). I like this Rimmel one because it actually has decent coverage and SPF. Then I put a little concealer on those under-eye bags and a little on the eyelid for priming. I set it all with powder and bronzed and the face lightly. No blush for me, my cheeks are red enough!

2. I am in love with this Covergirl Shineshadow. It’s a cream eyeshadow that is super pigmented and metallic. A little goes a long way, and it’s soooo pretty, even on its own. However for this look, I took the second shade in the Maybelline quad and used my finger to pack it on over it. The two together create the most beautiful copper shade. I then used the deep matte brown from the Flower quad to deepen the outer corner and crease. I blended it all out, and that’s it!

3. I then messily tightlined and lined my upper lashline with the brown liner and smudged it out. I also brought a little bit onto the outer third of my lower lash line. I then put the gold eyeliner in my waterline. I looove how the gold looks smudged out. It really rounds out the look, widens the eye, and looks gorgeous with the copper shades.

4. Finishing touches! I applied two coats of mascara to my upper and lower lashes. I love The Rocket, and it makes such a difference in this look. Mascara always pulls everything together for me! Then I took my shimmer strips palette and took the lightest shade and highlighted my inner corners. I also swiped a stippling brush over the coppery shades and used it as a light highlight on my cheekbones to finish it off.

5. Lastly, I lightly applied this fantastic lip butter. It’s the perfect shade of an orange-coral. It really works well with this eye look and doesn’t overwhelm the face at all despite its vibrancy.

Before and After

So that’s the look! It super easy to do and looks fantastic! It’s a great sultry look for the summer. What’s your favorite summer eye look?

Favorite Spring Lip Products!

picture845   This Spring I’ve latched on to a couple of fantastic drugstore lip products. They’re all relatively lightweight and easy to wear. I’ve definitely the radiant orchid lip trend, and a few of these lippies are perfect to rock it in a very wearable way! image (2)   Swatches time! From left to right:

1. Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop – It’s a really pretty purple-pink with some micro-glitter. The glitters make the lips look fuller and fabulous! This has been one of my absolute go-tos.

2. Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Lilac Love – I cant get enough of these glosses! The formula is just so smooth, and they smell fantastic. This color is a really light purple with pinky undertones, the perfect radient orchid color. When I’m not wearing the Lip Butter, I’m probably wearing this.

3. Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Mauve Outta Here – This is the perfect deeper pink. It’s a my-lips-but-better color but deepened just right. This formula is budge-proof and stays looking great for record time. And it’s super inexpensive!

4. Maybelline Elixir in Blush Essence – Although I’m not a huge fan of the scent, this gloss is pigmented and long-lasting. This color in particular is such a pretty shade of pink, as well!

5. CoverGirl Jump Gloss Balm in 217 Frosted Cherry Twist – Although I don’t think the name fits it, this subtle pinky coral is perfect to throw on for a bright pop on the lips!

6. Maybelline Color Sensationals in Violet Intrigue and Blushing Beige – These two on their own don’t flatter me too well, but together they create the perfect medium purple that really fits the spring and summer trends. These lipsticks are creamy and comfortable on the lips while packing high color. I don’t even mind the play-doh smell. The last swatch is what these two look like when mixed.

So there you have it: a handful of my current favorite lippies! I have a mighty need for more corals in my collection, so maybe when I find a few good ones I’ll make another post.

Happy almost Summer!

xoxo Gigi.

Spring Beauty Haul!

picture767

With tax refund season comes haul season! I was able to get my hands on a couple of makeup items that I’ve been lusting over at the drugstore for a while! Obviously it’s not all from Bath & Body Works. That’s just the bag I had handy to hold it all. And it’s a cute bag.

picture763

Covergirl Oil Control Pressed Powder in 525 Buff Beige
Maybelline MegaPlush Mascara in Blackest Black
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

The powder and mascara were just repurchases. The Baby Skin is something I’ve been wanting to try for a while! I’ve only used it once but so far I really like how it feels on my skin, how it makes my concealer and powder go on, and how it makes my pores look!

picture761

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink
Physician’s Formula Natural Nude Shimmer Palette
Maybelline Master Hi-light Blush in Nude and Bronzer in Light Bronze

I love the Color Tattoos and I wanted this one to go with my Naked 3. Also I’ve been loving pinky/rose golds and this’ll help amp them up! I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about both the PF and Maybelline mosaic face things. They’re all in that gorgeous rosy bronze shade and I had to have them.

picture759

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic
ELF Matte Lip Color in Natural
Milani Lipstick in Naturally Chic and Plumrose
Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Mauve Outta Here

Love me some lipsticks. I’m still on the lookout for the lighter coral color in the matte balms, but I grabbed this bright fuscia color in the mean time. It’s a little too bright for me, but I’m not giving up on it yet. I wanted to try a similar product from the ELF line so I picked up this nudey color. I also picked up my first Milani lipsticks! I got two deep rosy shades that I love. And my search for the Megalast lipstick in tea rose continues. This was the only lipstick left in the display, but I liked the shade still so I grabbed it.

picture762

Maybelline The Elixir in Blush Essence
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Rosy Lipped, Lilac Love, and Apple a Day

Everyone’s also been ranting or raving over the Elixir lip glosses. I picked one up, but the smell really turns me off of it. The shade is okay, but I can’t get past the lingering smell. The Almay glosses, however, smell delicious and are my favorite glosses from the drugstore thus far. I’m slowly working on completing my collection. The Lilac one really surprised me! It’s pretty pigmented and makes my lips a wearable shade of that Radiant Orchid color! And Apple a Day is so perfect for a low maintenance red lip. I’m in makeup love!

picture764

Sinful Colors – Baby Blues
Wet n Wild – Private Viewing

I needed more spring pastel nail polishes. Nuff said.

picture765

Garnier Fructis Texturizing Spray
Tresemme Dry Shampoo

Since cutting my hair, I want to experiment with some loose beachy waves and curls, so I picked this up. Also, I’m trying every drugstore shampoo until I find the one that’s best for me. This is my 4th brand so far. I haven’t really tried it yet.

picture766

Bath & Body Works fragrance mist in Amber Blush

It was on sale, and it smelled fantastic, so I bought it on an impulse.

WHOO this was a pretty big haul. But I got a lot of sales and stuff so I didn’t do too much damage. A girl can never have too much makeup!!! I also did a lot of fashion shopping this week, so once all my online purchases arrive I’ll do a Try-On Fashion Haul. So stay tuned!

Happy Spring!
xoxo Gigi.

What’s in my Makeup Bag? (Colorguard Edition)

picture644

Makeup bag from Forever 21

Competition season is upon us in the indoor colorguard world. With it comes new uniforms, new floors, and new makeup looks! My guard’s theme calls for a more natural look, so none of the products in that pretty little bag are very revolutionary, but I love them all the same. And everything I chose to use is drugstore except for a couple of my brushes (which sometimes I don’t even use).

FACE

Face:

I like to go light on my face because I tend to get pretty sweaty when performing. I just aim to even my skin tone, set it, and forget it.

Covergirl BB Cream in 810
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser for Dark Circles in Fair
Covergirl Clean pressed powder in 535

EYES

Eyeshadows:

Like I previously mentioned, we’re going for a neutral makeup look. I start with some primer, then use some golden champagne shades and deeper browns on my lid. I like this loreal pressed shadow as a base because it pumps up the sparkle! Then I use a small brush with the wet n wild single to smudge a faux wing on my upper lash line. This makes my eyes look more defined while keeping the look soft. (And it won’t melt off my face!)

Elf Eyelid Primer
Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette
Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Eternal Sunshine
Wet n Wild single in Panther

definition and lips

Eye Definition:

Since this still is performance makeup, there’s some small steps I like to take to amp up the definition of my eyes. I use a black waterproof (it’s an emotional show) eyeliner in my tightline and then smudge some brown on my lower lashline and waterline. I’ll then curl my lashes and apply a generous coat of water resistant mascara. This clump crusher water resistant formula holds my curl and doesn’t flake into my eyes while performing!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal in Black
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Sable
Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx (my backup liner)
Covergirl Clump Crusher Water Resistant Mascara in Very Black

Lips:

Our show colors include lots of soft pinks, so I decided to play that off subtly on my lips. I know my lip products are going to fade off while performing, so I go for lightweight formulas that’ll wear off evenly. And that lip gloss/balm smells amazing, so bonus!

Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Blooming

tools

Tools:

I try to pack light when it comes to brushes and tools. I tend to use my fingers more than anything, especially when applying it quickly on a rushed show day. My lash-curler is a must, and I need a small angled brush for my faux eyeliner trick. The other brushes are just for blending and setting purposes.

Revlon Lash Curler
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – for blending and setting concealer
Elf Studio Angled Brush
Sephora Angled Blush Brush – for blending and setting rest of face (it’s easier to pack than a kabuki)
Dual-ended Eyeshadow Brush from the Naked 3 Palette (2 in 1 = convenience!)

extras

Extras:

I like to use some form of setting spray after I’m finished with everything. It just helps seal all my hard work in place and (hopefully) keep my makeup on through the end of the show. The makeup remover wipes are just for any slip ups that happen all too often when applying makeup quickly.

Elf Makeup Mist and Set
Target Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.

second competitionnnn

You can’t really see my makeup in detail, but at least you can see me being cute with my two best friends after we were done performing. Also, I did my friend Molly’s makeup too! (She’s the one on the bottom) And I did some light contouring for my other friend, Gabby. I think we all look pretty fabulous!

I’m sure this collection is going to change over the course of the season, but I’m content with it for now. However, I’m already considering playing around with my naked 3 palette instead to bring out some more of the pinks. What do you think would be some great products to add to my lineup? I’m always looking for excuses to invest in more makeup.

Happy Monday!
xoxo Gigi.

The Nude Hunt

picture580

Over my winter break, I’ve discovered a new love for nudes. Nude lipsticks that is. While I still love darker colors, I think nudes compliment so many eye looks and can be much more wearable. My berry lippies will forever be my favorite, but I thought it was time to branch out.

photo (1)

Finding the perfect nude for me has been difficult to say the least. I have a warm skin tone, but really pink cheeks, so finding the perfect shade for my complexion has been tricky. What I’ve been doing is finding the lipstick and then pairing it with opposite toned lipgloss. For example, I’ll wear a peach toned lipstick with a rosy gloss on top. This combo plays off of my skin pretty well. I also try to go for sheer-er formulas that let my naturally pink lip color show through to neutralize it a bit. So the hunt is still on, but right now I have a small little nude team that’s been working for me.

picture584

Lipsticks:

1. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Complex

2. Wet n Wild Megalast in Just Peachy

3. Loreal Colour Riche  in Fairest Nude

4. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 08

picture585

Glosses:

1. Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Blooming Balm

2. Loreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Lilac Ever After (how bout that name? sheesh)

3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Snow Pink

I might have more nudey colors at school that I didn’t bring home because I thought I would never wear them. But these are the ones that I like for not only the color but for the formula as well. Also, this is my first Almay lip product and I must say I absolutely love it! (It smells and tastes like cupcakes!)

picture589

Bonus!:

Maybelline Color Sensational in Blushing Beige + Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Endless Red

When I saw that Maybelline came out with a nude line of lipsticks, I practically flipped out. It’s like they had read my mind! But the shade I picked up was just way too close to my skin tone, so it made me look dead. I was determined to make it work though, so I added a really bright and pigmented glossy stain over top it it. It created a really pretty rosey shade that is actually quite perfect for my skin tone. I feel like this lipstick will work as a great base for overly bright lipsticks that I want to make more wearable. See? There’s a bright side to everything.

If you ever thought nudes weren’t for you, like I did for quite a while, you just need to find the perfect tone for your skin. It might be an intense quest, but it’ll all be worth it. (Too much? Oh well. I mean serious business when it comes to lipsticks.)

Appropriate Attire (OOTD)

Image

Today I had my mock interview for my Writing for the Workplace class. It was just a general interview conducted by a random employer from around the area so students can gain experience in the interviewing process. I OWNED that interview. She loved my personality and thought I was well-spoken, passionate, and enthusiastic. Not only did I sound good, but I looked good too!

I definitely stressed over my outfit. I felt like the length wasn’t long enough and that I wasn’t professional enough. But I really wanted my personal style to come out in my outfit, and this was what I really wanted to wear. I bought this blazer for the purpose of this interview, but personally I’ve wanted one for quite a while now so it was about time I added one to my wardrobe. And this color is absolutely gorgeous. The fit is perfect for me and it is the most comfortable thing ever.

What I Wore:

Blazer: Target
Dress: Target
Tights: CVS
Shoes: Gifted (Similar)
Lipstick: Wet N Wild Megalast in Sugar Plum Fairy and Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet
Nails: Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Barefoot Beige

You all know I love a nice berry lip, and with this blazer I had no choice but to whip it out. I actually only wore the lip butter for the interview for some subdued color but then after I wore the lipstick with a little bit of the lip butter on top.

Also, let’s talk about this nail color. I wanted some polish on my nails but I knew it couldn’t be too over the top. And lo and behold I stumbled across this nude beauty.

Anyway, I’ve been having a REALLY good day and I’m finally feeling optimistic about my future. Too bad this week is going to be super hectic and stressful and this pleasant mood is going to drain right out. Ah well.
