Maroon Meow (OOTD)

Hey y’all! It’s definitely feeling like fall outside, and I am LOVING IT. After the uber hot and gross weather we had those first few weeks of the semester, I was dying to get myself into some cute sweaters/leggings/scarves/boots/lipsticks! (I’m really passionate about fall fashion.) Now that the weather has finally cooled down. I’m taking advantage. Of course it still warms up too much by midday, and I end up pushing up my sleeves in a huff, but I refuse to stop dressing so cute!

Today my friends and I decided to all wear maroon pants just for shits and giggles. Now, I really don’t like how my maroon pants fit, so I cheated and wore my new maroon leggings instead. #ohwell. (Note that the leggings look more red toned in person than they do in the pic. I really dont like plummy maroons.)

What I Wore:

Sweater: Forever 21+
Leggings: Forever 21+
Combat Boots: Payless
Lipstick: Rimmel in Bordeaux 124

This sweater is just so stinkin cute! When I saw this online last season I absolutely HAD to have it. I am a hardcore cat person, and this just spoke to me. Also it’s super long and cozy, and it’s also not too thick or thin of a material. Basically, this sweater is purrfection.

When I was planning this outfit in my head, I knew I had to pull out one of my favorite fall lipsticks from Rimmel. I only wish it were a matte finish instead of cream, but with a few rounds of blotting it stays put. For some reason, I find it really hard to find good deep red lipsticks. Berries and plums are super prevalent, but a dark brick red alludes me. It’s one of my goals to find the perfect fall red this season. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Well that’s it for this post. Thanks for reading! I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather!

P.S. More roommate love.

Copper Chic (FOTD)

photo (6)

Hey guys! For summer, I absolutely love a copper/bronze eye look. It really brings out my eye color, and just looks fantastic on my skin tone. I think copper and golden shadows are super flattering on almost everyone. This is an easy way I achieve this summery makeup look!

Products Used:

Rimmel 9-in-1 BB Cream in Light
Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer For Eyes in Light
Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder in 315 Soft Honey
ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzer in St Lucia
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Nude Palette in Natural Nude
Covergirl Bombshell Shineshadow in 325 Copper Fling
Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in 70 Copper Chic
Flower Eyeshadow Quad in Foxy Browns
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Sable
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Precious Gold
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara
Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Fruti

1. First I applied my face products. I like using lighter BB creams during the summer months (or anytime really). I like this Rimmel one because it actually has decent coverage and SPF. Then I put a little concealer on those under-eye bags and a little on the eyelid for priming. I set it all with powder and bronzed and the face lightly. No blush for me, my cheeks are red enough!

2. I am in love with this Covergirl Shineshadow. It’s a cream eyeshadow that is super pigmented and metallic. A little goes a long way, and it’s soooo pretty, even on its own. However for this look, I took the second shade in the Maybelline quad and used my finger to pack it on over it. The two together create the most beautiful copper shade. I then used the deep matte brown from the Flower quad to deepen the outer corner and crease. I blended it all out, and that’s it!

3. I then messily tightlined and lined my upper lashline with the brown liner and smudged it out. I also brought a little bit onto the outer third of my lower lash line. I then put the gold eyeliner in my waterline. I looove how the gold looks smudged out. It really rounds out the look, widens the eye, and looks gorgeous with the copper shades.

4. Finishing touches! I applied two coats of mascara to my upper and lower lashes. I love The Rocket, and it makes such a difference in this look. Mascara always pulls everything together for me! Then I took my shimmer strips palette and took the lightest shade and highlighted my inner corners. I also swiped a stippling brush over the coppery shades and used it as a light highlight on my cheekbones to finish it off.

5. Lastly, I lightly applied this fantastic lip butter. It’s the perfect shade of an orange-coral. It really works well with this eye look and doesn’t overwhelm the face at all despite its vibrancy.

Before and After

So that’s the look! It super easy to do and looks fantastic! It’s a great sultry look for the summer. What’s your favorite summer eye look?

What’s in my Makeup Bag? (Colorguard Edition)

Makeup bag from Forever 21

Competition season is upon us in the indoor colorguard world. With it comes new uniforms, new floors, and new makeup looks! My guard’s theme calls for a more natural look, so none of the products in that pretty little bag are very revolutionary, but I love them all the same. And everything I chose to use is drugstore except for a couple of my brushes (which sometimes I don’t even use).

I like to go light on my face because I tend to get pretty sweaty when performing. I just aim to even my skin tone, set it, and forget it.

Covergirl BB Cream in 810
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser for Dark Circles in Fair
Covergirl Clean pressed powder in 535

Like I previously mentioned, we’re going for a neutral makeup look. I start with some primer, then use some golden champagne shades and deeper browns on my lid. I like this loreal pressed shadow as a base because it pumps up the sparkle! Then I use a small brush with the wet n wild single to smudge a faux wing on my upper lash line. This makes my eyes look more defined while keeping the look soft. (And it won’t melt off my face!)

definition and lips

Eye Definition:

Since this still is performance makeup, there’s some small steps I like to take to amp up the definition of my eyes. I use a black waterproof (it’s an emotional show) eyeliner in my tightline and then smudge some brown on my lower lashline and waterline. I’ll then curl my lashes and apply a generous coat of water resistant mascara. This clump crusher water resistant formula holds my curl and doesn’t flake into my eyes while performing!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal in Black
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Sable
Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx (my backup liner)
Covergirl Clump Crusher Water Resistant Mascara in Very Black

Our show colors include lots of soft pinks, so I decided to play that off subtly on my lips. I know my lip products are going to fade off while performing, so I go for lightweight formulas that’ll wear off evenly. And that lip gloss/balm smells amazing, so bonus!

Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart
Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Blooming

I try to pack light when it comes to brushes and tools. I tend to use my fingers more than anything, especially when applying it quickly on a rushed show day. My lash-curler is a must, and I need a small angled brush for my faux eyeliner trick. The other brushes are just for blending and setting purposes.

Revlon Lash Curler
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – for blending and setting concealer
Elf Studio Angled Brush
Sephora Angled Blush Brush – for blending and setting rest of face (it’s easier to pack than a kabuki)
Dual-ended Eyeshadow Brush from the Naked 3 Palette (2 in 1 = convenience!)

I like to use some form of setting spray after I’m finished with everything. It just helps seal all my hard work in place and (hopefully) keep my makeup on through the end of the show. The makeup remover wipes are just for any slip ups that happen all too often when applying makeup quickly.

Elf Makeup Mist and Set
Target Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes.

second competitionnnn

You can’t really see my makeup in detail, but at least you can see me being cute with my two best friends after we were done performing. Also, I did my friend Molly’s makeup too! (She’s the one on the bottom) And I did some light contouring for my other friend, Gabby. I think we all look pretty fabulous!

I’m sure this collection is going to change over the course of the season, but I’m content with it for now. However, I’m already considering playing around with my naked 3 palette instead to bring out some more of the pinks. What do you think would be some great products to add to my lineup? I’m always looking for excuses to invest in more makeup.

Happy Monday!
xoxo Gigi.

The Nude Hunt

Over my winter break, I’ve discovered a new love for nudes. Nude lipsticks that is. While I still love darker colors, I think nudes compliment so many eye looks and can be much more wearable. My berry lippies will forever be my favorite, but I thought it was time to branch out.

photo (1)

Finding the perfect nude for me has been difficult to say the least. I have a warm skin tone, but really pink cheeks, so finding the perfect shade for my complexion has been tricky. What I’ve been doing is finding the lipstick and then pairing it with opposite toned lipgloss. For example, I’ll wear a peach toned lipstick with a rosy gloss on top. This combo plays off of my skin pretty well. I also try to go for sheer-er formulas that let my naturally pink lip color show through to neutralize it a bit. So the hunt is still on, but right now I have a small little nude team that’s been working for me.

1. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Complex

2. Wet n Wild Megalast in Just Peachy

3. Loreal Colour Riche  in Fairest Nude

4. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 08

1. Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Blooming Balm

2. Loreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Lilac Ever After (how bout that name? sheesh)

3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Snow Pink

I might have more nudey colors at school that I didn’t bring home because I thought I would never wear them. But these are the ones that I like for not only the color but for the formula as well. Also, this is my first Almay lip product and I must say I absolutely love it! (It smells and tastes like cupcakes!)

Maybelline Color Sensational in Blushing Beige + Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Endless Red

When I saw that Maybelline came out with a nude line of lipsticks, I practically flipped out. It’s like they had read my mind! But the shade I picked up was just way too close to my skin tone, so it made me look dead. I was determined to make it work though, so I added a really bright and pigmented glossy stain over top it it. It created a really pretty rosey shade that is actually quite perfect for my skin tone. I feel like this lipstick will work as a great base for overly bright lipsticks that I want to make more wearable. See? There’s a bright side to everything.

If you ever thought nudes weren’t for you, like I did for quite a while, you just need to find the perfect tone for your skin. It might be an intense quest, but it’ll all be worth it. (Too much? Oh well. I mean serious business when it comes to lipsticks.)

xoxo Gigi.

Lipstick Obsession

Let’s be honest for a moment. I have a lipstick obsession. I now own around 30 lipsticks and it might be getting out of hand. In my defense, I didn’t really have any fall shades and I felt the need to expand upon my collection. Here are seven lip products that I am totally in love with for this fall season! At the end of this post there will be swatches of all the products I mentioned.

1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
005 Crush

This is the first stain lip product I’ve tried and I’ve got to say I’m impressed! I went with a safer berry color that is very wearable. It has a slight minty smell that I liked but it might bother others. It was really easy to apply because of it’d crayon shaped tip. I am wearing it now and while it stays smooth on my lips, it hasn’t really budged. This is a great product!

2 – 3. Revlon Lip Butters
Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet

I LOVE these lip butters. I have six now. These two are a bit deeper toned so they’re perfect for when you want to wear a nice fall shade on your lips without committing to a super deep lipstick. They’re super comfortable on the lips and they’re actually pretty pigmented and longwearing for a lip balm. These are my go-to lip products for any season!

4 – 5. Maybelline Color Sensationals
Violet Intrigue and Midnight Plum

I decided today that I needed more purple based lipsticks in my life so I went out and got these. They’re both really dark plums, but that’s ok. The violet is a very true purple and I think it will be a great vivid shade to wear in the colder months and even into spring. The Midnight Plum is wonderfully dark! Much darker than I had expected, but I love the vampy look for fall and I can’t wait to pair it with both intense and neutral eyes. This line of lipsticks really is sensational and I recommend any shade in this line.

6 – 7. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks
124 Bordeaux and Kate Moss 011

I actually really like Rimmel lipsticks and I feel like they are super underrated. These are the the first two deeper shades I ever tried and I really love how both look. Bordeaux is a super rich berry color while 011 is just a deep brick red. Both are incredibly smooth and wearable despite their dramatic tones.

Left to Right: Revlon Lip Stain in Crush, Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie, Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet, Maybelline Color Sensational in Violet Intrigue, Maybelline Color Sensational in Midnight Plum, Rimmel Lasting Finish in 124 Bordeaux, Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 011.

This a pretty assorted collection of fall shades in not only lipsticks but some more sheer and easy to wear options as well. I have acquired a bit of a lip product obsession but I love to have some pretty options! This year I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone and play around a little bit when it comes to my daily makeup. Lip colors has become one of my favorite ways to do so.

So what’s your favorite fall lip product?
